Despite a troublesome harvest beset by rain delay and low light, Pink Lady® once again demonstrated its dynamism across all European markets. In the face of declining apple consumption – down 12.2% in Germany, 9.8% in Belgium and 3.5% in France – Pink Lady® branded apples grew their market share in key European markets.
A few noteworthy points from the 2018/2019 season:
- Sales growth in three top markets: up 15% in the Netherlands with over 10,000 tons; 14% in France with 22,250 tons and 9% in the United Kingdom with more than 33,000 tons sold;
- Tangible market share gains in most countries, particularly in Ireland, Germany and France, where our share rose by 5, 1.5 and 0.8 points respectively;
- Pinkids®, the Pink Lady® branded apple for children, continued its upward trajectory, up 20% compared to last season, particularly thanks to new product roll-outs in Germany, Spain and Belgium.
- Performance has been in line with stated objectives for recruitment and customer retention, alongside significant progress towards achieving the target of 275,000 tons sold in Europe in 2025.
All in all, a very positive note on which to begin the next season!
